A Great Run (13 Days to Marathon)

Last week I had a horrible crappy run.  This week I didn't really want to go out but there was a 21k on the schedule and we are getting oh so close to race weekend.  I decided to ignore my watch for the most part and run at a pace that felt good.  The sun was shining and it was warm - actually I got horribly sun burnt.  I was wearing a long sleeved top when I put cream on and had to take it off 3k in as I was too hot.  Brilliant.

I haven't felt this good running for a long time, I was finally able to run under 7min/km the entire time and by quite a bit.  This run is the reason I struggle through the crappy runs.

That's another 6 minutes off my last 21.1k time from 2 weeks ago!  It is also only 3 minutes off my actual Half race PR.  Holy crap.

I was test running Iceburgh on my pack, he stayed on very well.  Now if the Penguins could please make it to round 2...

I ran an extra 4k to get back to the house (25k total on the day) where I found Kev waiting on the doorstep having forgotten his key.  He was most pleased I had picked today to add distance.

We were also issued our race numbers for Pittsburgh.  I am 6280 and Kev is 6278.  We have always had consecutive numbers when racing but would you believe this time there is someone with our exact same last name who got the number between us.  My last name is Warcholak, not too common!  I thought this was pretty awesome.

13 days to go!

    1. I know it's a dilemma! I would rather not wear it for the race but since I can keep so much stuff in the pockets plus my drink is pre-mixed etc. yes, it's a go for race day. Bloody thing chafed the crap out my back in Kauai, I will be sure to keep all skin covered this time!
