Energy Bits


I've been having energy issues on my long runs this year, even getting started has been hard some days.  The people at Energy Bits must have noticed my whining as they sent me a tin of their Bits to try out.


It is recommended you take 30 Bits 15 minutes before hard exercise so I took them with me to my Half (Run for L'Arche) 3 weeks ago.  I've had issues getting energized at the start of my runs and last few races and I wanted to see if these helped.

I do not love the smell (they are algae!!) so tried to swallow as quickly as possible.  I am quite sensitive to smell and had some gag issues (TMI?)  However, as soon as I started my run I felt good and found my pace was faster than I planned.  Not only that but I maintained it easily for the first 10k.  It's been a while since that happened.  The -20 wind chill wore me out midway so I took another handful of Bits at 12k.  I had a strong last 5k and felt better at the finish line than I have in AGES. 

I tried the last few Bits for my 30k a couple of weeks ago and got out to a steady start with no low energy issues.  Praise be.

Once again I started out strong on my long run last Saturday, I can't tell you how happy that makes me.  I ran 21.1k and took 5 minutes off my L'Arche race time.  Finally, I'm getting back to where I want to be.

  1. I am with ya, Ssan! No tummy issues, and taking them often makes me feel stronger...pity I left mine at WORK and missed taking them this morning! :-) I won't do that again!
