2025
It’s been a big year over here. Somehow I turned 50 in February (then Kev followed in May) and the first indication of the midlife crisis was a trip to Las Vegas to run Jackpot 24hr. 42 miles.
Following that, April brought my first ever 100 mile finish and buckle. I’ve never been happier. I still can’t believe it’s real.
We went to Banff for our 25th wedding anniversary shortly after that, it was a wonderful treat. Good thing it falls between seasons!
In early August we went back to Scotland and fell in love with Edinburgh again. It was the Festival, we saw Trainspotting live and Karen Dunbar in 2 very unique venues.
At the end of August I did the best (14 hr) hike of my life with a peak scramble and water crossings. Stuff I didn’t think I could do.
We also saw the luminescent Margaret Atwood in December, I absolutely adore her.
The very arse end of the year brought another 100 attempt which I failed at. It feels awful but I recognize that in 22/23 I could barely manage a Half so a 42 mile, 100 mile and 100k this year is not a small thing. I fucking hate failing.
2026 can start gently and with kindness. I plan to run much shorter distances after I feel better. We fly back from Phoenix tomorrow, I’ll start the year properly with kitty squishies.
