Calgary Police Classic 8k Sept 19, 2026

The CPS 5k was my very first race ever so I became sentimental and signed up for the 8k 2026 version.  It has moved from April to Sept so there's less chance of snow.  Note, this is Calgary so there's never no chance of snow.

Package pick up was at The Military Museums which in itself was pretty cool.  The weather has been gorgeous lately.  Such blue sky.  Very sunshine.

The forecast was for about 7°C at the start so we left any top layers in the car.  Like idiots.  I was cold the entire time.  

This year is celebrating HAWCS so there is a big shiny helicopter above us at the start.  Um, it might be that tiny dot top left?  

The race route is lovely, west out of Cowboy's Park up Memorial then a turnaround to come back.  More blue sky.

Since I have never run an 8k before we can call this a PR despite the actual shambolic mess it actually was for me.  Hurrah!

Honestly I love CPS.

At the finish they had these gorgeous little pink boxes that you just knew would have something amazing inside.

And yes, they did.  Absolutely brilliant race, very well put together.  Perhaps I'll have a better go at it next year.  I'd probably do it for another donut to be fair.
