Happy Winter Solstice!

The longest night has passed and now the days will get longer and lighter.  This year we celebrated with a night in Emerald Lake and a log fire (which we lit....eventually).

We arrived into a huge snowstorm.

We got up and snowshoed into the middle of the lake to watch the dawn.  It was so peaceful and still.

Later on we had a better look at the returning sun.
