So, Did I Hit My Jackpot?

That was something a whole lot different; there were ups and downs and parts I can't remember.  It was hot, it was sunny, then it was dark (except for the Luxor beam in the distance).  It was painful, it was amazing.  At no point was it easy.  I was surrounded by the most awesome runners you could ever hope to meet.  Again and again I felt the pure simple joy of continually moving forward, of getting shit done.

Goals:

Keep moving for 12 hours - yes.
Don't worry about pace - no Garmin for me.
Contain the Bitchmonster - check!  Pretty sure hydration and fueling helped 100%.
At one point I mentioned 40 miles - also done.  17 laps plus 0.5 miles.
Achilles issues - none.  Breathe.

I am so happy with how this race went I am actually considering another one.

Race report soon!

  3. Hurrah! loved the pics all the way through. This kind of race seems easier than a point to point ultra...or somehow mentally easier - since you wouldn't be "alone" - because of the loops. Given I would have to go do something like this by myself, it might be something that would be achievable or doable. Congrats!!

    1. Thanks! :) Tweeting kept me sane and focused on something other than the blisters and the heat. Of course I dropped the phone, tipped water over it and coated it in Tailwind in the process. 12 hrs is definitely interesting around the same course over and over, pick a good one!
