Sentinel Pass

 A funny thing happened on the way to Lake O’Hara.  About 20 minutes before Lake Louise in the worst area for internet ever, I checked for Moraine shuttle tickets and boom the 8am was available.

Despite a sunny start it got overcast as soon as we arrived at Moraine.  This lake is always beautiful no matter what mood the weather is in. 

After the switchbacks and plentiful mosquitoes we arrived in Larch Valley.  There’s a beautiful mix of lingering snow and spring flowers. 

The Pass trail still has snow patches, and the drop off is quite a thing to the side.  Since this was somewhat spur of the moment I didn’t bring spikes.  Lesson learned.

Flowers for days.  Peaks for days.  10 peaks to be precise, it’s one of the most beautiful views I have ever seen. 

We saw quite a bit of wildlife as the trail wasn’t overly busy.  

As soon as we started descending summer switched on. It was so busy at the lakeshore I nearly reversed back up the trail.  I have no idea how people paying a fortune to stay at the lodge deal with that all day long.  

We got a soda at the cafe then braved the rockpile.
