A Big 2015 Announcement & Challenge!

Ever since I started all this running madness I have raced one distance or another in the Calgary Marathon weekend.  I love it.

I was at my most purple during my first 10k in 2011 when I misjudged the temperature entirely.  Why yes, that is a thermal undershirt.

Another wonderful chafe-inducing outfit in 2012 for my first Half when I misjudged the temperature in the other direction.  Do you love my headphones?  My exuberant sprint for the finish that year is still one of my favourite race pictures.  After limping home I hung my medal on the towel rack and got directly into the bath to stare at it.

I ran through ITBS in 2013 and was so happy to finish the Half. (Don't get too excited, that's the 10k time clock above me).

2014 marked my first Calgary full marathon in the 50th anniversary race, just a month after the Pittsburgh marathon.  At the end they handed me this rather splendid medal/belt buckle.

What about 2015?  Well, I'm glad you asked!

I am going to be an ambassador for the race this year!  I am officially a Calgary Marathon Forerunner.  I can't wait to meet the rest of my team TinaPeterRachelJenKaellaJennyKevin, and Rafael (who are all very awesome indeed) and share the journey to race day.  You can see our page online here!

This also keeps me accountable for the next part....

....I am registered in the 50k race.  This is a huge challenge for me as there are strict time cutoffs on the route.  I believe it's important to set big scary goals for yourself, and mine in this race will be to PR both the marathon and 50k distances.  Yikes.  The Mr is joining me of course, his goal will be to run a PR (then wait for me at the finish.)

Why don't you join us?  The route reveal is on Jan 14th at Eau Claire where we will get an up close look at what awaits on May 31st!

  5. Oh and I'm super jealous that you'll actually get a 50k medal this year! A 42k medal and beer stein just isn't the same, lol.
